Help Patients Get Insurance Coverage

All KentuckyOne Health

Kentuckians may now purchase health insurance through the Kynect Health Benefit Exchange, an online “store” where consumers can compare and buy health insurance plans. At KentuckyOne, we encourage all uninsured patients to sign up for insurance online at kynect.ky.gov or by phone.

From anywhere in Kentucky
1.855.459.6328 (toll-free)
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In the Louisville region
1.888.737.3363 or 502.266.5571 (Ask for a KIPDA Kynector)
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kynect was created under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Open enrollment through the exchange ends March 31, 2014.

Through Kynect, individuals may purchase individual insurance from Anthem BCBS, Humana and Kentucky Health Cooperative. KentuckyOne Health is participating with Anthem BCBS (through Anthem Network) and Kentucky Health Cooperative (currently through First Health Network). KentuckyOne Health is not a participating provider with Humana for the exchange products.

Small employer groups also may purchase group insurance on Kynect from Anthem BCBS, Bluegrass Family Health, Kentucky Health Cooperative, United Healthcare and Humana. KentuckyOne Health is participating with all of these plans except Humana. KentuckyOne Health is not a participating provider with Humana for the exchange products.

KentuckyOne is a participating provider with all Humana non-exchange, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans.

Medicaid and the Exchange

The Medicaid rules have changed, so many more people will be able to get coverage. The exchange website, kynect.ky.gov, can be used by consumers to begin the Medicaid application process in addition to using it to select an insurance plan. Click here for a flyer to share with uninsured patients about how to get help signing up for health insurance.

KentuckyOne will be participating in all Kentucky Medicaid plans starting Jan 1, 2014. Patients unable to qualify for Medicaid may be eligible for government assistance to pay for coverage through the new insurance exchange.

Each KentuckyOne Health hospital and outpatient care center has a financial advocate available to talk with patients about applying for Medicaid and coverage options. (See list of contacts below.)
