KentuckyOne Health will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., through the following activities:

KentuckyOne Health at Jewish Hospital

On Friday, Jan. 17, the Diversity Council of Jewish Hospital invites all to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in its presentation of “Civil Rights and the Arts” at 12 p.m. in the Rudd, Heart & Lung Building. The program will include music performed by local groups, short plays, oratory readings and more.

KentuckyOne Health at University of Louisville Hospital

The University of Louisville Hospital Diversity Council will be honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., the week of Jan. 13 – 20. The theme for the week is “We Have a Dream,” and will embrace aspects of Dr. King’s visionary stance of wholeness and equality for all. A wide variety of multimedia communications will be shared including a video depicting employees incorporating “the dream” and interesting facts about the life of Dr. King.

Posters will also be placed throughout the hospital inviting employees to write down their dreams for KentuckyOne Health and for our country.

University of Louisville Hospital’s “We Have a Dream” week will culminate on Jan. 20 with choral music from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the cafeteria. A special celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Glass Room, with a community presentation to the Louisville Central Community Center (LCCC) at 12 p.m. Items collected throughout the holiday season for the LCCC’s two West End daycare centers will be presented.

KentuckyOne Health at Saint Joseph Hospital

On Monday, Jan. 20, Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington will join the country in celebrating the life and contributions of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Saint Joseph Hospital leaders will participate in the traditional Unity Breakfast at Heritage Hall in honor of Dr. King. Proceeds from this breakfast contribute to college scholarships for minority students.

KentuckyOne Health at Saint Joseph London

On Monday, Jan. 20, Saint Joseph London will help sponsor the annual Martin Luther King, Jr., celebration at the Laurel County African American Heritage Center. The day-long celebration is free, open to the public and honors the history of African Americans. Events will include children's activities from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and a fashion show/gospel singing event from 3 to 5 p.m. The main program, featuring a guest speaker, will begin at 5:15 p.m., followed by dinner.
